Meet Dustin
An eighth‑generation Texan and lifelong resident of Texas, Dustin Clay has built his life and career around serving others and strengthening his community. He believes in putting KIDS FIRST and uses that lens for every decision he makes as a parent, professional, and public servant.
Dustin and his wife, Katie, moved to Aubrey ISD seven years ago and are raising four children. Their oldest graduated from Aubrey High School last year and now attends Oklahoma State University. They have two children in elementary school, and their youngest is still at home with Mom, so their family is directly invested in the continued success and stability of Aubrey ISD.
Dustin is a man of God and Christian values, and his faith guides how he treats people and how he leads. Professionally, he serves as the Chief Operating Officer of a local law firm and is now in his tenth year. This experience gives him hands‑on knowledge of operations, budgeting, planning, and personnel decisions, as well as how to make tough calls while still putting people first.
He wants to acknowledge the work of the current School Board, which has served this district very well over the years. Their strong leadership has helped guide Aubrey ISD through rapid growth, challenging decisions, and changing state expectations, all while keeping students at the center. Dustin is grateful for the foundation they have built, and for the opportunity to join alongside them to build on their successes and continue moving the district forward for the benefit of each student, family, and teacher.
In public service, Dustin currently serves on the Providence Village Town Council. That role has given him practical experience with long‑range planning, working within tight budgets, reviewing policies, and making difficult decisions in public meetings while listening to residents and balancing different perspectives. It has also taught him how important transparency, communication, and teamwork are when you are entrusted with taxpayer dollars and the well‑being of families.
Since 2022, he has also served on Aubrey ISD’s District Site‑Based Decision‑Making Committee, a state‑required advisory group of educators, parents, and community members that helps plan and assess student outcomes, set goals and strategies, and adjust implementation to improve achievement at both the campus and district levels.
Dustin also serves as a board member and treasurer for a local Hope Foundation and recently began his fourth season coaching AAYSA baseball. He has previously served on the Administration Committee for the Aubrey Education Foundation, while Katie now serves on the Foundation’s board. He supported the PAC for the 2022 Aubrey ISD bonds to ensure that every student had a chair in the classroom.
Over the years, Dustin has attended dozens of School Board meetings simply to stay informed and involved because he genuinely cares about the direction of the district he LOVES and how decisions affect the Chaparral family.
These experiences have given Dustin a strong foundation in disciplined, consistent leadership, the kind of steady, prepared leadership you expect from anyone serving on a school board. Being informed on current and ongoing issues is essential to him, and on topics where he is not yet an expert, he is committed to putting in the time to learn before decisions are made.
He is equipped and ready to work alongside the other trustees starting on day one. He hopes to have your VOTE electing him as the next Aubrey ISD School Board Trustee.
